What is your style?

Learning how to paint in watercolor is a lifelong journey. I'm sure my style will evolve as my drawing and painting skills improve. Yet nobody can paint like me as sure as I can't paint like anyone else. Perhaps in a world that increasingly demands conformity, being able to draw and paint is a blessing. That's how Uniquely Chie was born. I would like to invite you to embark on an artistic odyssey through the world of Uniquely Chie with me. Discover the beauty of watercolor art and immerse yourself in a world of creativity and inspiration.

A friend asked when I began painting in watercolour regularly as a form of stress relief. I've never given much thought to that question. To me, everyone is unique and we interpret and communicate our perceptions and ideas differently. I simply could not answer that question with a definite answer but I'll keep painting subjects that interest me.

Watercolor Japanese Shop Fronts

The series of ink and wash captures the unique and traditional Japanese shop fronts, preserving the essence of these shops before they vanish or are replaced. Each storefront tells a story of the history and culture of its surroundings. Through this collection, I would like to preserve a small part of the memories they hold, ensuring that they are remembered and cherished.

Through a different perspective, we can find value and significance in things and places that we may have previously ignored. It serves as a reminder to stop and take notice of our surroundings, and to pay attention to the details that make our world special. By shifting our focus and being more mindful, we can learn to see the extraordinary in the ordinary.

Art Nouveau Architecture (Sketchbook)

I chose to draw Art Nouveau Architecture, something that I'm passionate about, for the draw-everyday Inktober 2024 challenge.
